We had the opportunity to meet and chat with Lopez Lomong. He is an Olympian who has an incredible story of how he came to America and represented the US in long distance running. He is now a representative for World Vision. Lopez has a book that chronicles his life, "Running for My Life". I highly recommend it. Our family will be reading it as one of our homeschool assignments.📚

I pick up my book and read it. That seems silly considering it’s a young children’s picture book. But I need a reminder that God asked me to do this. And when I have self-doubt, I find that reading through my book reminds me of all that God has done and how he is in every situation and every emotion. My own children’s book ministers to me. Wow, God, you are amazing! 🥲😃

Last week I had the privilege of reading my book to the Kindergarteners and 1st Graders at Denver Christian School. It was so fun to hear their giggles and answer their questions. Their favorite question? How old are you 😆

I see our 3 kids when I flip through the pages of my children’s book 📖. They inspired many of the illustrations that my dad drew. As I wrote the different rhyming phrases, a reel of photos and memories of our life streamed through my mind. From Lydia collecting rocks, to Charlie playing the drums and Jackson sledding down a snowy hill. Those images and many more are on display in this book. I wanted little readers to see themselves in every situation and emotion and know that God is with them right there, seeing them and loving them 💕. Through knowing this truth, they can choose to praise Him anytime and anywhere. 🙌

Trudy Swain is a mentor 👏. I’ve learned from her through many bible studies and her enthusiasm to reach others is grounded in her faith in Jesus. She has dedicated much of her life to missions and ministries. She cofounded a Christian-based one-on-one mentoring program in Denver and it’s still going strong today. My kids were so excited when I told them that Luke Hochevar was going to review my children’s book, Praise All Ways, and give a quote at the end of the story 🤩. Luke is a former MLB pitcher who had much success on the field. He now ministers to others through hunting and mentoring. He was also in my graduating class of 36 students in high school! I was able to contact Luke and chat with him about my book, and not only did he review it and give a quote, he sent signed baseballs to our 3 kids ⚾️⚾️⚾️. Thank you, Luke! 😃

I’m inspired by Taryn Lancaster 😌. She is a wife and mother of 3 and she started a successful online boutique on her own. We met at a bible study a few years back and became friends. I’m not naturally adventurous, but I want our kids to know they can do hard things 💪. They watched me through the process of writing and publishing a book and were excited to listen and give their feedback when I read the rough drafts to them. Since my book has a serious message, I wanted it to be playful and rhymey for the message to stick. When my kids would laugh at the phrase I read to them and then remember it later, I knew it was a good one! They were my rough draft reviewers 🧐 and I am thankful for them ☺️. I’m sure John Dudycha laughed when I said I was writing a children’s book. He told my husband and I a few times that we should write a book and he would help us. We did not take his invitation. Fast forward two years and I’m writing a children’s book 😆. John is a writer and has published several novels. Our families became friends when our kids crossed paths way too many times. John gave me advice and wisdom and connected me with a local writer’s group. He also reviewed my book and gave a quote at the end of Praise All Ways.
So be careful about saying you’ll never do something; you just might have to eat your words (pun intended) 😜. Thank you, John!

I knew Rachael Mogle would be a great one to talk to when I was developing my children’s book, Praise All Ways. She is a dear friend and fellow writer 🥰. Kevin Parker probably doesn’t know how much he’s impacted my life. He was my husband’s Younglife leader after the Columbine HS shootings. My husband was a sophomore there at the time. It was through Kevin’s mentorship that Brian gave his life to Christ. A few years later I met Brian and gave my life to Christ through his encouragement. Our families have remained close, and he was gracious to review my book, Praise All Ways, and give a quote at the end of the story. Thank you, Kevin! 😀

“Are you going to publish this book or what?”, was my husband's question after I had been dabbling in writing this children’s book for 5 months. I’m the dreamer 😌 and he’s the realist 🧐. I have ideas swirling in my head all the time and he asks the hard questions and helps me bring those ideas to reality 👏. He invests in our kids, works hard for our family and loves Jesus.
