Happy New Year!

We’re happy to announce that progress is being made here at LPC.

We’ve just finished stringing this c. 1874 Crown Jewel upright, which took some time due to the complex nature of the pinblock.

We also got one of our O’s back, and she’s waiting in the wings to get strung next!

An oil painting on screen has been revealed in detail after weeks of experimentation as to a cleaning process. Pioneered by the French it always showed a water landscape, the buildings having red roofs. The borders were trees and greenery. This is the epitome of that style. The technique expanded to America in the 1860s. Many window screens and doors were painted in this fashion. This is preserved in part to not being exposed to the elements outside.
This is the front panel to a 1850 Barrel Piano from France. It is in large part a big music box. The piano plays from a large clock like spring mechanism, turning a barrel with 10,000 pins that engage the hammers and bells. We have spent over a year re-manufacturing this instrument.
