I’m super proud to present to you my ✨Leyland Cypress Cowl✨ pattern! Available Now.
My Leyland Cypress Cowl is a knit bandana cowl inspired by Leyland Cypress hedges, early morning garden walks, and the joy of meditative textures amidst quick knits. As we cozy up, light the fireplace, and hunker down for the frosty winter weather, I aimed to infuse all of the seasonal inspiration that surrounds us into this design in tandem with the instant gratification of this beautiful Happy Place: Apricity yarn that developed with . (Swipe to the last slide to see my design inspiration/moodboard - I’ve always loved seeing evergreens lined up like sentinels guarding a garden)
Have y’all ever worked with a blown yarn?
I’m LOVING how this ethereal blown yarn creates a lofty yet insulating fabric that’s full of depth when paired with this cozy waffle-like stitch, and the bandana construction makes this the perfect functional statement piece that you’ll never worry about falling off of your shoulders! Best believe I’ll be rocking mine with a vest, sweater, puffer coat, or wool overcoat anytime I can!

Did a little birdie just tell the enchanted forest grapevine that I have contributed my maker magic to a fun collection? Yes, why yes it did!

In less than 24 hours the collaboration between and shall be officially unveiled. From beautiful colorways to intricate patterns, there’s a story behind every stitch and hue. I’m so excited to have been invited to bring one of the six exclusive crochet designs to life!

Where are my “textured stitches” lovers?! I’m excited to share my City’s Eve Shawl!!

This heavily textured crochet shawl pulls inspiration from gingerbread men, the dotting of evergreen trees on a snow capped mountain, and the excitement one feels the eve/night before your favorite winter holidays.

I just might have to hook up another one as I watch all of my favorite winter movies! *Commences to cue up “The Holiday.”* Do y’all watch movies during your crafting time? Even if you don’t, shout out some of your favorite winter and Christmas time movies?!

When my grandma opened this Christmas gift she was speechless! Not only was it so rewarding to see her excitement, but it was so fun to tell her about each individual maker/Dyer behind all of the beautiful yarns that went into this shawl. I picked out these yarns on the 2018 Our Maker Life trolley tour in Chicago and I could not wait to cast on. Once I got back home the trickiest thing was trying to knit without her walking into the room while I thought I could sneak in a good chunk of knitting. There were definitely some close calls of throwing my jacket or blanket over my work, but I succeeded in giving her a great surprise! .

Gauge is so helpful! It’s a great tool to learn about your crafting process... it taught me that I am a relaxed knitter and a more snugly tensioned crocheter! What are your thoughts on gauge?

Surprise!! I have created a super fun pattern that is available for FREE on .hook.nook blog !
This gem is called “The B.Hooked.Nook Scarf” - a unisex hybrid scarf, which includes both knitting AND crochet. It’s name and design are inspired by the two keynote speeches presented by Jessica of .hook.nook and Brittany of at the 2018 Meetup Event. (You see what I did there... *wink wink)
