I want to give a shout out to all the glassblowers who've still got love for collectors. I can remember a time, not too long ago, that there wasn't any glass for sale on facebook, there weren't shows in Long Beach, and there were only a handful of people at the flame-offs and trade shows. I remember artists counting on collectors to buy multi-thousand dollar pieces, because headshops had no interest. Now it seems the same people that counted on those collectors have lost patience with them- more so, those collectors are lumped in with the "dab kids" and "flippers" to be written off just the same. Its collectors, and subsequently dab kids and flippers that helped quadrupled the price on most the glass for sale today. There aren't too many industries where artists are treated like rockstars. Its important we remember our roots. Used to make me feel really good knowing I could add amazing art to my collection while helping some one else pay rent and do what they love. If this post offends you, thats ok, I've probably been supporting your art for almost 5 years.
