Alright friends- we have dates set throughout the season for getting creative with flowers and watercolor paint! 💐🎨

Each date will have a different masterpiece to complete and different florals to arrange, but one thing that they will have in common is that they will all be SO MUCH FUN!

I hope you can join .miss.artsy_ and I to unwind, have some refreshments, arrange locally-grown flowers, and paint a lovely picture.

Spaces are limited so reserve your spot soon. They would be such a fun event to do with loved ones or a great gift to give.

The “Peonies and Painting” class is just over a week away and you won’t want to miss it! 🌸 You’ll leave with a vase full of peony blooms, your painted masterpiece, plus an art kit.

I love that the process of pressing flowers already looks like art.

These are just random blooms the I’ve decided the press (aka put between parchment paper with something heavy on top to smoosh them). I already think it looks so fun and vibrant.

It’s funny how sometimes you can fiddle with and change something up and still feel like its not quite right and then other times you just plop things down without much intention and you feel like you hit a homer ⚾️

I’m liking the look of these and it gets me excited to work with these flowers once they are pressed and dried.

House plant painting was the best!

We enjoyed some yummy bites to eat, got step by step instructions from .miss.artsy_ on how to create a masterpiece, and went home with an art kit and potted plant! 🪴 Such a fun day!

My favorite road is the one that leads home! 🏡

I’m a certified homebody. I love caring for my people, pets, and plants here. I am a fan of homemade, homegrown, and home cooking.

I love being able to open up our space to you all to share what we have grown, so it’s been a joy to host events here on the farm. The events page on the website is filling with fun on farm events. There are painting classes each month and the U-pick field will open toward the end of July.

PEONIES are here being the star of the show for this week’s bouquets 💐🌸✨💫⭐️

Like a lot of flowers I harvest peonies BEFORE the heat blows them open. I try to get them at the stage where they feel like a marshmallow so that they will open up in the vase and last longer.

FUN FACT: I played volleyball 🏐 in college and I had a coach that wanted us to play “on the edge of our of control,” which meant pushing the limits to do what we maybe weren’t certain we could do.

For me lately April and May have been “on the edge of out of control.” These two months have included:

⚾️shuffling people around to baseball games and practices (a full time job in itself 🤪)
🥔planting out 750 dahlia tubers,
🌱keeping hundreds of plants starts alive planting them outside,
💦figuring out irrigation,
🪏prepping flower rows,
🪴doing a house plant market,
💐putting together Mother’s Day flowers,
📚winding down our homeschool year,
👩🏻‍🌾opening up the farm stand,
🍽️plus making dinner and doing laundry.

Phew- it seems like we’re going to make it through (even if we weren’t always certain that we would).

This next chunk of time is one of my favorites because EVERYTHING has been planted out (whoop whoop) and now we just get to wait for the beauty to unfold. Stay tuned for Summer U-Pick dates (likely toward the end of July).

If this season also has you “on the edge of out of control” just maybe you’ll pull off something you weren’t totally sure you could.
