What is it Wednesday? These are sweetgrass braids. A sweetgrass braid is a sacred herb used in Indigenous North American cultures, widely considered the "hair of Mother Earth". Braiding it signifies love, care, and our relationship with nature. The braid's physical structure—three sections of interwoven grass—represents the unity of mind, body, and spirit.

The Structure and Symbolism

A traditional sweetgrass braid is woven with 21 total strands (usually divided into three sections of seven). Each section carries profound spiritual and cultural meaning:

The First Section (The Past): Represents the seven generations behind us. It honors ancestors and reminds us that who we are today comes from their strength.

The Second Section (The Present): Represents the Seven Sacred Teachings (or Seven Grandfathers): Love, Respect, Honesty, Courage, Wisdom, Truth, and Humility.

Today is about black mica. These are black mica obelisk. Black mica, also known as biotite, is a common phyllosilicate mineral famous for its flexible sheet-like layers and reflective, metallic luster. These cuties are a malachite bear and a malachite elephant.
