If you work at home and are hoping to adopt an experienced supurrvisor, let me be Cass's reference. Here he is checking my progress with inventory updates. He also will keep your seat warm during your breaks away from the desk. Bonus, he comes with a brother!

Cass and Salem are available for adoption through the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society as a bonded pair. ❤️

So many thanks to Ophelia and Great Falls Pride for organizing a lovely Drag Queen Storytime. It was great to see everyone enjoying fun stories, like Ophelia's childhood favorite, Silly Sally!

New Park Alley murals, part 2:
The Lewiston Public Art Committee commissioned local artists to add their personal touches to the alley behind 140 Lisbon Street, accessible off Ash Street. Many thanks to property owner Richard Avery for his support.

Working primarily in acrylic and heavily influenced by surrealism and pop art, Renee C. uses bold imagery and distortion to turn familiar objects into emotional and social commentary. She believes art should say something. If you feel something strongly, express it loudly.

As a Lewiston-area artist, Renee is deeply inspired by the community: its resilience, creativity, and openness to people from all walks of life. Lewiston’s growing arts culture and sense of shared humanity make it the perfect place for conversations through public art.

The rain is inevitable for tonight, but unless you're unwell or are actually the Wicked Witch of the West, I hope you'll consider donning the appropriate attire and see what's happening downtown for Art Walk tonight!

If you expand this post, you can read about the venues and their artists. Let's kick off the 2026 Art Walk season with a splash! (I'm almost sorry for that pun, but not enough to delete it.)

The event runs from 5-8 pm, and there are some great restaurants here downtown to make the most of this time! (El Pochos Mexican Grill, Mother India, The Blue Feather Kitchen & Bar, and Orchid Restaurant) Parking is ample and free on the street and in the garages after 6 pm.

💧💧💧Tut Tut, Looks Like Rain

98% chance of rain tonight! That’s pretty much a certainty, but never fear ArtWalk is still here! We’ll still have lots of wonderful arts-filled experiences for you, so brave the rain and come on out! We’ll be relocating any artist vendors that have registered, as well as Chicks with Sticks, BC Love Creations facepainting, and Aerial Jade (if space permits, we’re still troubleshooting) to Callahan Hall in the Lewiston Public Library . We’ll also have our gallery open to the public - OUTSIDER featuring 41 works of Maury Ornest, minor leagues baseball player who suffered from schizoaffective disorder and turned to expressive painting for healing. Proceeds benefit , helping sustain its free programming to 800+ participants.

And don’t forget that MANY other locations will be open:

Quiet City Books featuring Cara Courchesne - What Kind of Mother
Ellard Studios - Becoming: A Day in the Life of an Emerging Artist - Maine Arts Academy Student Exhibit
Clara Yim Bolduc OPEN STUDIO across the hall from Ellard Studios
Wine at the Vault Free Friday Wine and Gin Tasting

New Park Alley murals:
The Lewiston Public Art Committee commissioned local artists to add their personal touches to the alley behind 140 Lisbon Street, accessible off Ash Street. Many thanks to property owner Richard Avery for his support.

Kris Lachapelle painted this mural. He is a Lewiston native who is challenged daily by anxiety and mild depression; he uses many forms of art and creation to help him cope. Songwriting, playing guitar, writing short stories, and drawing are some of his outlets.

Music is his greatest passion, and he feels most comfortable writing songs to tell his story.

Kris is a champion supporter of the arts scene in Lewiston/Auburn. Watching the dreams of other creative spirits become reality not only fuels his fire, but sharing it all helps build the community he loves.

Art Walk season 2026 kicks off in downtown Lewiston on May 29. Cara Courchesne will be featured at Quiet City Books with a series called What Kind of Mother?

Cara's words: "In August 2025, I walked into my daughter's school and came face to face with a man who sexually harassed me 20 years earlier. I learned via a simple Google search that he had just left another Maine school district amid similar allegations. He was the counselor for grades 4-6 at my fourth grade daughter's school... [This series] asks viewers to look at what our institutions continue to look away from."

Peachy Palmers are the perfect summer drink! But this strawberry shaken espresso looks divine.

Also, an important PSA: the baked goods are all delicious and amazing. Blue Jay muffins are my favorite muffins (all the berries!), and the peanut butter cookie I had recently has not left my mind. :)

back at it tomorrow at 7 am! restocking the pastry case and shakin’ espressos all day long! 🍓🍓🍓
