The other side of the bridge 💙

This morning, my lovely friend Barbara shared this with me. I loved it so much, I’m sharing it with you! Happy Tuesday, Two Fish friends.

Today
BY BILLY COLLINS

If ever there were a spring day so perfect,
so uplifted by a warm intermittent breeze

that it made you want to throw
open all the windows in the house

and unlatch the door to the canary's cage,
indeed, rip the little door from its jamb,

a day when the cool brick paths
and the garden bursting with peonies

seemed so etched in sunlight
that you felt like taking

a hammer to the glass paperweight
on the living room end table,

releasing the inhabitants
from their snow-covered cottage

so they could walk out,
holding hands and squinting

into this larger dome of blue and white,
well, today is just that kind of day.

June.

In my mind, June is the true beginning of summer. It starts off relatively calm, but by the end of the month, life is moving at full speed.

The weather is gorgeous—crisp, cool mornings, flowers finally settling in and showing off, and our summer neighbors gradually making their way back north. This early morning view of our quiet little town has me soaking in the calm while it lasts.

June is full of milestones: kids finishing school, graduations, the last games of the season, and the excitement of summer vacations just beginning.

And here in Leland, one of our biggest traditions is right around the corner. The Leland Wine & Food Festival is just 13 days away! 🍷☀️

For now, I’ll be over here enjoying these quiet mornings while I still can. 😊

What is it about tiny things that’s so irresistible? I’ve always loved miniatures — whether it’s a dollhouse, a terrarium, or just a tiny treasure sitting on a shelf. 💙

One of our new artists this year is Jean Schnell, and she creates the most adorable miniature photographs. Each one captures a little piece of Leelanau in the sweetest tiny frame.

They’re perfect for travelers too — you can take home a special memory without sacrificing precious suitcase space. ✈️

Jean visited a few weeks ago and captured some beautiful local scenes, which she’s now transformed into these incredible tiny works of art. Stop in and see them in person — the detail is amazing! (Quarter included in the photo for scale because they really are that tiny.) 😊

Our favorite quote from Jean: “to have the faith to let go, to explore, to trust, to give, to receive-without the need to see reason, or predict and control the outcome-is the challenge for me in how I approach both my life and my art.” 🎨 💙

Welcome to Two Fish, Jean!

I know Leland is famous for its sunsets 🌅, but for me, the sunrise is where it’s at. Maybe it’s because I’m a morning person… or maybe because this time of year I’m usually in bed before the sunset even happens. 😆

Starting the day with a view like this is pretty hard to beat. 💙

Memorial Weekend was nonstop in the best way 🙌, and now I can’t wait to see what summer brings. ☀️ Hopefully it includes lots more beautiful sunrises.

Starting today, our summer hours switch to 10 AM–8 PM daily ⏰, except Sundays when we close at 6.

The shop is stocked, looking swell, and ready for summer. Hope to see you soon! 🐟 💙🐟

Every November, we put out a call for new artists — and each time we’re blown away by the talent that comes our way. Choosing who will join the Two Fish mix is never easy, but it’s one of our favorite parts of preparing for a new season. 🎨✨

This Memorial Weekend, we’re kicking off a special Friday series introducing our five new artists for 2026. Each week, we’ll spotlight one of the talented makers whose work is now part of the shop.

First up: Jeanne Keckler of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Jeanne creates beautiful fabric art lamps that offer a cozy glow — and we are absolutely loving the warmth they’re bringing to Two Fish. Each lampshade image is a carefully selected portion of an original painting by Jeanne — printed on Washi rice paper. They’re the kind of pieces that make people immediately start imagining where one would go in their home.

Stop in this weekend and see Jeanne’s work shining in the shop. We think you’ll love them as much as we do. 💛💛💛

Good morning, Two Fish friends 🐟💙

It’s definitely feeling like spring here in northern Michigan — rain, sun, birds, flowers, cold, hot… and rainbows. 🌈

It’s hard to believe we’re already zooming in on Memorial Weekend, the unofficial kickoff to our season! We’ll be open extended hours this weekend and are crossing our fingers that Mother Nature, our schedules, and the flower supply all cooperate so we can have the boxes planted by then. 😳☀️💐

Have a beautiful day! ❌⭕️
