💙 Closing the Doors — Thank You for 12½ Amazing Years

Well… this is it. Tonight, I lock the doors for the very last time.

Running this store for the past 12½ years has been one of the greatest adventures of my life. It’s been a place where new players rolled their first dice, strangers became friends, kids discovered they were braver and smarter than they ever believed, and so many of you found community around a table instead of a screen.

We built something here — something small, quirky, nerdy, heartfelt, and real. And I am so proud of that.

We didn’t close because of lack of passion. We didn’t close because the games stopped mattering. We closed because life changes, bodies change, and sometimes you reach a point where love for something isn’t enough to keep lifting the boxes, running the hours, or doing all the invisible work behind the scenes.

I gave this place everything I had. And you gave me so much back — your time, your stories, your laughter, your kids’ milestones, your support, and your kindness. Thank you. Truly.

To everyone who shopped here, played here, volunteered, told a friend about us, or just stopped in to say hello… you’re now part of a chapter I will always cherish.

This community has meant more to me than I can put into words. And while the doors are closing, the memories are coming with me — all the wild game nights, the big wins, the critical fails, the hilarious table moments, and the way this place quietly changed lives (including mine).

Maybe someday there will be a new adventure. Maybe not. But for now, it’s time to rest, breathe, and take care of myself and my family.

Thank you for letting me be part of your stories for so long.
Thank you for letting this little store matter.

May you always find good games, good friends, and the courage to keep rolling the dice — even when the world feels tough.

Today is our final day, and we still have a mix of items looking for a good home — including:

We’re down to the last odds and ends — the stuff everyone walks past but always regrets not grabbing later. Some of it may even end up being given away because it’s just not worth hauling back out after today.

✨ Half the Day Gone — And So Much Cleared Out!

Wow! We’ve already moved a massive amount of inventory today. Thank you to everyone who’s come in to support us during these final days.

If you’re still hoping to grab items at 80% off, or if you’re part of a school, library, therapy program, senior center, or any civic organization looking for resources for your classes or programs, please come by before 6 p.m. today. Once we close tonight, that’s it — everything left will be sorted, donated, or packed as we prepare to release the store tomorrow.

We’re excited to finish the last bits of work…
But the reality of closing our doors after 12½ years is starting to hit hard. That part will take time to process.

📣 Meet Bob.

For years, this majestic First-Edition-style Beholder has floated proudly above the entrance of CCYDNE Hobbies, watching over adventurers, dice goblins, miniature painters, new players, grognards… and that one guy who always asked for discounts he didn’t qualify for.

Bob came to us after the local Community Theatre performed She Kills Monsters. When the curtain fell, he needed a home — and we welcomed him with open arms (and closed eyes, for safety). He’s been part of our family ever since.

But now, with the store closing, Bob once again needs a soft landing.
A safe new lair.
A loving home where he won’t be lost, alone, or sadly deflating in a back room like one of those ASPCA commercials with Sarah McLaughlin singing in the background.

Bob’s vital stats:
Species: Beholderus Inflatus
Construction: Exercise ball, pool noodles, papier-mache, and pure theatrical talent
Temperament: Paranoid, smug, thinks he’s smarter than everyone
Magical hazards: Eye rays may or may not work — we’re afraid to test
Good with dogs: …Uncertain. He hasn’t met Cashew or Gatsby yet.
Good with children: Only if they don’t poke him
Good with adventurers: He’ll monologue first, then decide

We would LOVE to keep him, but… the risk of random disintegration rays in the living room is too high, and honestly, he’d take over the household within a week.

So we’re opening adoption offers for Bob.
Make a reasonable offer and give this dramatic orb a loving new home.

Please — save Bob. He deserves to float freely once more.
(And he promises only minimal eye-lasers.)
