ASTROLOGY FOR THE STRESSED AND ANXIOUS
Gotta tell ya, folks, we have had a LOT of people in lately dealing with anxiety, issues of protection, questions about security and threats, and several other related issues, and I'm led to give you a quick rundown about some things that may be contributing to that.
There are two astrological factors at play, one that is going to be going on this summer in general (and has already been in place for nearly two months) and one just slightly more temporary but an interesting echo of the same theme.
The first issue is the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune, which has just finished permanently entering Aries and will be there for quite some time.
Saturn rules our sense of security and how we define what it means to us to feel safe. Different Saturn placements will result in one person feeling like they can just sell everything and go backpacking around Japan for a year, where another person with a different placement might need to have a 401k established by the time they are 23 in order to feel “secure.”
Saturn's general shenanigans may be part of why you are seeing higher drama in the workplace (I don't feel like my job is secure right now) or issues in relationships (I don't feel like my relationship is offering the emotional safety I need) or other issues of insecurity. Its placement in Aries, having moved from “all-the-feels” Pisces to “I need to get fighty about this” Aries, is why suddenly there is more conflict and a strong urge to get mad about our lack of a sense of security and want to do something, or worse, blame someone, about it.
The addition of Neptune to this dynamic is both an exacerbation and a solution.
Dig this: Neptune is the planet of spirituality, and specifically how we manifest spiritual nourishment, community and support. So hooked in with this whole situation, it's creating an increased need to clarify the relationship between our spiritual views and our sense of what makes us feel safe.
Related issues are the uptick in odd or significant dreams, a yearning for more spirituality and effective practices, and even a desire to learn new divination to “predict” outcomes so we can feel more confident. Neptune is going to lead us to explore these realms of psychic knowing in any case, so you'll see some of that as well.
So while the first result is that Neptune may feel like it's exacerbating the security issue, it also holds one of the keys to solving it, which is to create ways to address feeling threatened or un-supported or unsafe by re-evaluating how our world view affects and defines those ideas.
The other planetary issue that may at least temporarily affect this is the recent conjunction of Mars and Pluto.
Remember, when you're reading your favorite astrology columnist about this stuff, that these conjunctions and activities are not going to come and go in a single day, especially with slower moving planets like Saturn, Neptune and Pluto, and even Mars. Think of the exact day of the event as the stone that gets dropped in a pool; those ripples have extended back into the past so you started feeling them as the event approached, and the ripples will continue for a while after the stone is dropped. So any astrologer that says “oh just watch out today” is not giving you the whole story.
Mars is the war planet, so that is adding to the fightiness around the issue, and Pluto helps us define our “big questions” issues like who we are, why we are here, meaning and the divine and so on. So in a sense it becomes the other facet of our spirituality.
Again we find an echo of this theme of insecurity and an urge to be combative about that lack of a sense of safety, even when we aren't clear on where it originates.
So in summary, I'll say do not get surprised when you find odd instincts to get combative and weird about structures like jobs and relationships. You're going through some re-evaluation of whether those provide true security, or whether you need to look deeper into your sense of self-confidence and your ideas about the world to find some new roots.
I'll also say that for those who really do face some protective issues right now, we have a whole display up for that, featuring a limited edition “can o' whup-ass” collection of protective powders, incenses, soap and lots of other stuff. Whatever is going on, we have something that will help.
