Today I started the process of removing all of the AI created content and images from Peony Books.
It's important that when we know that we've made a mistake and that we're not contributing to the greater good of our communities that we call ourselves out and make changes.
At first I thought AI was really helpful. It helped me survive a job where there were completely unrealistic expectations. I loved the way that I could bounce off ideas to AI and it would help me w**d out directions in my thought process that weren't helpful.
I realize now all of the harm that AI is doing. And maybe AI itself is not harmful, but like with most things it's what the wealthy does with AI that is harmful. It's the wealthiest members of our communities spin on everything that does the harm.
I've just had enough of the extreme measures put onto our lives in the name of wealth hoarding.
This is my promise to everyone on this page and anyone who interacts with Peony Books. We're looking at everything now with the lens of an orca whale on menopause. Any action that doesn't cause the sinking of a billionaires yacht, doesn't have a place here.
That means AI doesn't have a place here. We will not be featuring AI created content. We will not be featuring authors or events or businesses that utilize AI. Further, we're going to be looking more into publishers, businesses, and any other entity that we're promoting. If they're doing anything to support the 1%, they're not getting promoted here.
I know this is kind of a catch-22 because we are on Facebook and Instagram. So just know there may come a time when Peony Books no longer exists on social media (is it even really social media anymore? Or have we all finally figured out that these horrible people have been playing the long game in fooling and using us all?) We're taking the plunge into the Kool-Aid but it's going to be a minute until we can make the full shift and know that we're still able to connect people with books and the book community.
If you have any tips or tricks to switching to an analog lifestyle (as the kids are calling it these days), please share in the comments. I'm calling it rescuing society from billion
