🚨A new invasive insect is confirmed in NC! The yellow-legged hornet has been found in NC for the first time in Union County.
This invasive species kills honeybees and is bad news for our bees and beekeepers.

Meet Precious ❤️

It’s hard to believe this sweet girl has now been waiting over a month for someone to see just how special she is.

Precious came to us through Animal Control after we were told her owner moved away and left her behind. Despite everything she’s been through, she hasn’t let it change her gentle, loving personality.

She appears to be an older girl (but not too old!) and has the sweetest, most laid-back personality. She’s happy to relax by your side, but she also has an adorable playful streak. One of her favorite things to do is carry toys around and proudly drop them into her food and water bowls. It always makes us smile!

Precious is Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive, but please don’t let that scare you away. Cats with FeLV can still live long, happy, love-filled lives. She simply deserves a family willing to give her the chance she has been waiting for.

A huge thank you to Scotland Bling for stopping by with even more dog and cat food donations from their community pet food drive! 🐶🐱❤️

We are so grateful for their continued support of our shelter and the animals in our care. Donations like these help keep our dogs and cats well-fed while they wait for their forever homes, allowing us to put more of our resources toward medical care and other lifesaving needs.

A special thank you to everyone who donated through Scotland Bling’s drive and to Scotland Bling for organizing it. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a caring community that continues to show up for our animals.

🐾 Longest Shelter Resident Alert 🐾

Firecracker has officially become our longest in-house shelter resident, and we just can’t understand why.

This handsome boy has been waiting patiently while so many of his friends have found homes. He’s incredibly friendly, loves people, enjoys playing with other dogs, and is always ready to make you smile. When he first comes out of his kennel, he’s so excited to stretch his legs that he pulls a little on the leash—but once he gets that excitement out, he settles in and walks much more calmly.

Firecracker doesn’t deserve to spend another week in a kennel. He deserves a family, a comfy bed, and someone to call his own.
