The best ideas usually come from simple questions like: “How can we make this even better?” And that’s what led us here. We’re so excited to welcome Katie Jefcoat to Scotsman General! For a long time, we’ve dreamed about this space becoming even more for our local community and those that visit us from all over. Dreaming of creating experiences for families that aren’t just a quick stop for a treat, but a place where kids can run, parents can linger, and neighbors can gather any afternoon.

With more parking, more seating, a fenced in play area, and one of Laurel’s favorite local businesses serving up ice cream and other treats we knew this was the right next step!

We can’t wait to see y’all! Birthday celebrations, after-school ice cream runs, grandparents with grandkids, and friends catching up over a scoop. 💛

We had a fun visitor roll through Laurel last week to pick up a custom piece from the Scotsman shop! We took the same material we use for our cutting boards and crafted a custom sink cover for his camper van.

There’s a whole community of folks traveling the country in these incredible vans, and we loved getting to send a little piece of Laurel along for the ride.

If you’ve visited the Scotsman General Store over the last 5½ years, chances are you’ve met Mike. He’s been the first smiling face to welcome you through our doors, greeting visitors from all over the world with kindness, hospitality, and a genuine love for our little hometown. It’s hard to imagine the store without him, but life is taking Mike back home to Illinois. While we’re excited for this next chapter, there’s no denying there will be a little hole around here when he’s gone.

Mike, thank you for the countless conversations, the warm welcomes, and the way you’ve represented our store so well. You’ve made Laurel feel like home to so many people, and you’ve become family to us.
