Fire Valley Forge will be back at it for a day, at the Boy Scout Jamboree/Mountain Man Rendezvous in Las Vegas. While this event is not open to the general public, FVF is looking forward to providing education for and supporting Scouting!

So folks, this is an announcement that I really didn’t want to make.

The head ranger at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park decided at the last minute to shut down my blacksmithing operation. I was not informed as to his reasoning behind his decision, as the man refuses to speak to me directly.

I tried to overcome this by pursuing communications with his direct superiors, to no avail. So until further notice, FVF will not be operating in any capacity for the public.

Please accept my sincere apologies, as I started this to provide education and inspiration to others. I’m quite upset that I’m not going to be able to at the venue that I felt was a perfect fit.

I am looking into other options but it will probably be some time before I can get back up and running. I will update the page when I have more information to share.

It’s almost that time again - forging time!

Join FVF as we return to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park on October 5th for our blacksmithing demos!

The Park will be celebrating Pioneer Day, so there will be a ton of activities and demos going on. Hope to see you there!

Midsummer update!

We hope you’re having a great summer. As of right now, we are scheduled to return to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park on Saturday, October 5th. This coincides with the Park’s Pioneer Days celebration. Hope to see you there!

Looking forward to October and the reopening of demos at Spring Mountain Ranch! It will be here before we know it.

Hey all, have an update for you.

Due to fire hazards around the forge shed that need to be mitigated, we have had to shut down a little earlier than anticipated for our summer break. Smithing will resume at Spring Mountain Ranch in October, after fire season has passed.

In the meantime, feel free to visit the Park and see the other awesome attractions and tours.

Just because, why not - today is an extra forging day! We will be at the Ranch from 11-1, banging on metal. If you have a weekday off, it’s a great day to visit the park!

Had the day off work, so why not an extra day of forging?
Today we’ve been making long S hooks, these are great basket hangers. Also gives us the room to put an extra “twist” on our work. This is called a blacksmiths twist and while it doesn’t make the work stronger, it does add a touch of class.

Don’t forget! FVF will be back at it this Saturday at Spring Mountain Ranch from 11-1. We are under a wind advisory this weekend, so we will have to see how the wind blows. Winds into the forge area will cancel the event. March is coming in like a lion this year!
