Thirteen Years of Love
The calendar marked a baker's dozen, dear friend,
Thirteen years we walked, a journey without end.

You, my shadow, my comfort, my truest home.
Your fur, once dark, now touched with silvered grace,

Now comes the day, the one I've always dreaded,
A silence whispers where your paws once treaded.
The hardest choice, a kindness I must give,
To ease your pain, so you might truly live,
Beyond the aches, the weakness in your stride,
With dignity and peace, by your true side.
Each final pat, a silent, tearful vow,
To carry all the joy you gave me now.
The leash hangs still, your bowl sits empty, cold,
