RITZY RAGS is very much in business!!!
I purchased Ritzy Rags almost three years ago ,after signing for this lease and getting hit with a major flood in store about a month after purchase, I was called by store insurance who we had only called to establish service the day before our flood. We were denied insurance due to the claims from the previous owner submitting over 16 claims collected on. Needless to say this make it extremely difficult to cover the store with a reasonable/proper price policy. My partner initially going into business with me flaked the day before signing s contract yet I believed in “ work hard, play hard” however this wasn’t the case there.
I must admit my two years there have been tough With the burden of Playing the carpenter roles on my own on redoing the store esthetically safety with updating paint and wallpaper,flooring etc.... . I truly wasn't left much time to focus on the business itself restructure studs in the walls for proper shelving to guarantee the weight of merchandise would withstands and completly ,remodel the whole store, all while trying to keep the doors open with only the best quality merchandise, smile everyday , meet sales quotas and give the best deals! I loveddd dry minute of it until I became sick and diagnosed with Cancer . This was something I came to learn much later after almost being closed 1 year due to black mold poisoning.
Being that I couldn't function in that location any
longer after learning about the black mold poisoning at Ritzy Rags, remediation never told us after the flood how bad the back office and bathroom were covered in mold until I asked almost a year later based off my symptoms along with doctors shooing me away time after time telling me there is nothing wrong! I thought to myself , I will take the real estate managements offer and leave the building in the 3 day time period as they suggested and take my tim to get well , find a new space and start fresh. Our store was in the same location for over 20 years in total never having any proper maintenance and updating from flooring to paint , air condition units , I did all of that with my own hands 18 yrs of previous owner ignoring these mahjong necessaries which made it extremely tough while trying to operate as a retail owner/manager. We then sufferred from black mold, later learning it was from previous floods we were unaware of. fiberglass coming from ceiling tile along with multipl isulation fibers that irritated our skin.
This is the reason we packed up fast and are currently looking into move in ready space, while it is difficult and sad to not be In The same space of 20 years , I know we will make it great and have a store ready to shop in a nice easy to shop set up with all the finer designers we know and love. Please be patient as this is a move we want to make right and it was so last min giving the mold situation. We Will do Our best to Answer any questions or concerns you may have. We have nothing but the best intentions to get this place back up and running once my chemo treatment and surgery is over .
Life throws many obstacles in our way, it feels so good to overcome the ones we challenge , look back and say we did it !
