In-Person Saturday Meditation Vigil for International Calf and Cow Mother’s Day
Please join me, Tams Nicholson, Executive Director of All-Creatures.org, tonight, Saturday, May 9, for a 45-minute Meditation and Prayer Vigil at Everybody Reads Books & Stuff, 2019 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, in honor of International Calf & Cow Mother’s Day, a project of Climate Healers and the Million Vegan Grandmothers. You can learn more at https://calfandcow.org/ .
The bookstore will close to patrons at 6:00 p.m., and the vigil will be held in the closed store from 7:00 p.m. Eastern until 7:45 p.m. Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot behind the bookstore.
As Executive Director of All-Creatures.org and as a Third Order Franciscan, I know the power of unity and the importance of gathering in solidarity and prayer for all mothers, children, and fathers of ALL species. Tonight’s gathering will honor the mothers, children, and fathers of every species, and it will also invite us to sit with the painful truth that the maternal bond of so many species is often broken because of humanity’s appetite for violence.
This will be very simple—a gentle time of prayer, meditation, and reflection. We will introduce ourselves, share whom we are choosing to meditate or pray for, and then remain in silence for 45 minutes. It will be a time to collectively hold in our hearts the sacred bonds that exist between mothers, fathers, and children of all species, as we unite together in reverence for the lives, love, and families of God’s creatures.
Come for prayer. Come for stillness. Come for love. Come to bear witness to the truth that these family bonds are real and precious, and that it is time for the world to awaken to this fact.
