A Goodly Heritage

Baptist heritage is a heroic testimony of a people who sacrificed and suffered for their commitment to the Word of God. In early America they endured fines, imprisonment, beatings, and banishment because they chose to remain faithful to Biblical principles and defy the religious establishment. Their contributions to this country are an epic of forgotten history.
The United States would not be what it is today without them.

(Hosea 4:6). Sadly, many
Baptists today suffer from a lack of knowledge in two areas: the Bible and their heritage. Very few Baptists know why they are a Baptist or from whence they came. Baptist is more than a name - it is a set of Biblical principles that make up the Baptist distinctives. In this age of great compromise, most Baptists know very little about their Scriptural principles; and of their heritage, they know nothing at all. May God help us, who are Baptists, to get back to the Bible and to our forgotten heritage.

Bro. Davis digs into our past that we may stay faithful to our scriptural principles in the days a head of us.

In 1993 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. It wasn’’t long before the Holy Spirit began to stir up a strong desire in my heart to study the word of God. After two years of bouncing from one translation to another, in frustration I asked this question, “Where is God’’s perfect word for the English speaking people?” I wanted to know that I had a Bible in my hands that contained every pure and perfect word that God intended for me to have. God said that His word would be “…a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105. It was at that point that I began Looking For The Lamp that the Lord had promised me. With an honest heart, I asked the Lord to show me where His perfect word was for the English speaking people, and that is exactly what He did. What the Lord revealed to me has been condensed and placed within the pages of this booklet as a guide to help others who may also be struggling with this issue.
