Sometimes when looking through old albums and photos you will get a little history lesson along the way. This photo was taken at Princeton on June 15th, 1935. If you look close you can see Jack Lovelock of New Zealand crossing the finish line to win the mile in 4 minutes 11.5 seconds. That race became known as "Mile of the Century". Lovelock went on to win the Olympics held in Berlin in 1936. After he was a doctor in a Manhattan Hospital in New York. He met an untimely death in 1949 when he fell onto the subway tracks and was hit by a train. My history for today!!

We have been fortunate to purchase a stellar outdoorsman photo album with an abundance of super photos. Each one is more interesting than the next. Some historical photos from the 1920's. These were all taken on the same day by Harold Twichell who was stationed at Lakehurst NJ Parachute School. This was the day the Graf Zeppelin first came to the US bringing Suzi the Gorilla. All are available in the shop under "Military" section.

Special albums cross my path all the time and this newest one really touches my soul. It always makes me sad that some family member didn't want to keep the memories of their relative alive. I always feel it is my job to do so. From every album that I sell, I keep one photo in my curio to honor them in this small way.

These photos are from the album of Harold S. Twichell, US Navy Sailor, who attended Naval Air Station Parachute School in Lakehurst, New Jersey. He was there from April 9, 1929 thru July 2, 1929. The photo of Harold in flight gear and his personal drawing are remaining with me, but his other wonderful photos will be in the shop soon or are there already. May Harold's memory be for a blessing!! Enjoy!
