It all started as a HomeSchool Science Project

Suzanne's Soaps started out as a homeschool science project back in 1996. Our first batch was made by Sue, in her laundry room, to demonstrate how matter and molecules, change through chemical processes. The finished soap was then given away as Christmas gifts. -It was a hit! The following spring we went on a field trip to The Hans Herr House, a loca

l historical site that does reenactments, this being our second trip to this particular festival, Sue was eager to share her new success with the colonial soap demonstrator. During a lengthy conversation with the director, we learned that Soap Lady had retired and Hans Herr House was now looking for a new demonstrator to do the reenacting. -Sue, of course volunteered! "Why, I know how to make soap!" And the rest as they say is history... our costumes were sewn, cast-iron kettles were bought and hundreds of batches of soap have been created since. We still demonstrate at reenactments several times a year, we also go to local markets and craft shows. Stop by one of our shows and mention you saw us on Etsy or follow us on Facebook and receive a special discount!

From bolt to shirt: the transformation is complete except buttons and buttonholes. That's a project for tomorrow.

I am attempting to sew a colonial boys shirt today. Missing Sue and how she held me accountable to not cut corners.

It is with shock and sorrow we would like to tell you of Sue's sudden passing. She went to be with our dear Jesus on Feb 28th after a heart attack. We look forward to the day when we are all reunited and sin is gone, death is defeated and pain is no more.

All spring shows are canceled but we will continue to process E-commerce orders as we can. Thanks for your grace and understanding at this time.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sue Steffy, a beloved wife and mother, who peacefully left this earth on February 28, 2024 at the age of 65. Born on April 21, 1958, Sue graced the world with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind her devoted husband...

It is with much sorrow that we have decided there will be no Haycreek Festival for us this year.
🏳
We have weathered hurricanes and flood warnings, torrential downpours, high winds and so much more over the last 8 years, that there's part of me that feels weak for surrendering to a severe thunderstorm.. but the majority of my years experience tells me I must. The wear and tear on equipment, spending the next 2 weeks drying out and cleaning up.... It's not worth the pain to my little family. It's not fair to drag them through the mud -LITTERALLY and figuratively drag them through the mud- just to make it to this show.

🏳 we have weathered some crazy moments and wild wetness at fairs and festivals through out the years but tonight did us in. No tomorrow for us.
Once the kids are in bed shawn and I will evaluate the damages and see if we can make it for the other days of the festival.
