This is a Thrift Shop
We also hold a Craft Fair on the second Thursday of August every year, located at the Speculator Pavilion Hamilton County Twigs Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was formed June 20, 1982 “to develop a working relationship with the community at large through volunteer services and fund raising; to promote and advance the welfare of the Health Center located at Speculator, the comm
unities' Volunteer Ambulance Corps and any emergency health facility which may be established. As an outreach to our mission the organization will support the establishment of a scholarship grant to area qualified student or students with the intent of enhancing motivation and facilitating their career in a health-related field. Fundraising included garage and lawn sales, craft fairs, barbecues, and other events. Its annual Speculator Craft Fair has become a destination event, with 100 juried vendors drawing shoppers from all over the region. In 2011 Joanne Flax Krawic allowed the Twigs to use the former Rulison house on the east corner of Page Street and State Route 8 to open a thrift store, Twigs Treasures House. Having a store brought an instant, major boost in fund-raising, and four years later, in 2015, the Twigs bought the former Niagara Mohawk building on the opposite street corner from Joanne, and greatly expanded their operation. Since inception Twigs has raised much needed funds for health-related needs. Its “giving tree” has expanded to include Speculator Primary Care Center; the Wells, Speculator, and Piseco ambulance squads; the paramedic “fly car;” and its Scholarship Fund.
