What a joy it was to geek out with Annie MacHale at Fiber Fest last weekend. Not often you get to talk inkling with another professional. It is a rather niche obsession! Don’t miss her video in the comments.

Last weekend I attended the Michigan Fiber Festival and taught a workshop. I finally got to meet Joan Sheridan, who also taught an inkle workshop there. We have been following each other on social media for quite some time and it was great to finally meet her in person and nerd out about inkle weaving. She's the reason that I decided to go to the MFF and it was worth the travel time to hang out with her and her store crew!
Joan teaches a variety of weaving and knitting workshops, but she has a fondness for the inkle loom. I am impressed with her curious exploration and how she inspires inkle weavers with her classes and kits!

Walls lined with colorful wool, traditional Norwegian yarns, spinning fiber, and weaving equipment have made this longtime Michigan shop a destination for fiber artists throughout the Midwest. Heritage Spinning & Weaving in downtown Lake Orion specializes in knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, and rug hooking supplies while also hosting an extensive schedule of classes, workshops, and social crafting events throughout the year.

Visitors can browse specialty yarns sourced from Shetland and Norway alongside looms, spinning wheels, books, and rare fiber arts materials that are difficult to find elsewhere. The welcoming atmosphere and strong crafting community continue making the shop one of Michigan’s most respected fiber arts destinations.

We had an absolute blast yesterday. Just as we were finishing taping/filming/videoing for our Socials, Jolie from WXYZ (Detroit local channel 7) called. She was looking for a shop that could help her do a feature on younger folks enjoying "granny crafts." She arrived within an hour. I honestly don't know how she will boil down 3 hours of work into a 2 minute story, but it will be fun to see what she ends up with. It will air twice on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:45 AM and 4:45 PM.
