Well....as a Luthier/Woodworker, I decided to make a resonator cover plate instead of using the metal traditional one. Made of walnut, ebony and curly maple. I, personally, really like the look of the wood cover plate opposed to the metal one.

Before and after pictures of the Martin D-28 repair. New top is Adirondack spruce. All of the binding and purfling, bridge, and some of the bracing was salvaged from the original top and reused on the new top. What bracing couldn't be salvaged we made new bracing to original specs.

Preparing to route the top to reinstall the top purfling and binding. Should be ready for the spray booth by the end of the week.

As a luthier shop, besides building handcrafted guitars, we are also a full service repair shop. Pictures show a major repair we are currently working on. A 2018 Martin D-28 that had a huge broken section of the lower bout. We are replacing the top with an upgraded Adirondack spruce top. We were able to salvage the rosette purfling, top binding and purfling and most of the braces from the original top. The original rosette purfling has been inlaid into the new top and sound hole cut. In the process of laying out and gluing the top braces now. We'll show progress of the repair on future posts.

Getting closer to looking like a real guitar.
Getting ready to bend the maple binding....then route the body and glue the binding. Still a little tidying up of the grill sound holes to be done as well.

Multiple cracks in the top, back and side glued and cleated; new bridge made and installed with bone saddle; fingerboard sanded flat and regretted with new frets; new bone nut; set-up with level crown and polish; strung up with D'addario silk and steel strings; entireguitar cleaned and polished.
