THE STORY OF 2130 PRICE DRIVE

Long before Veterans Thrift filled this building with donated furniture, clothing, medical equipment and people working to help our community, 2130 Price Drive had another life.
Historical records take us back at least as far as 1980, when Desert Valley Wood Products operated at this address. Later records also associate the property with Hudson Truss Manufacturing. For years, this was a place where people worked with lumber and built things.

Decades later, we're still building things here. Just different things.

In 2020, I drove out to 2130 Price Drive to meet Roberta and apply for the store manager position at Veterans Thrift. I couldn't have known that day how much this old building, this organization and the people who walk through its doors would eventually mean to me.
Over the years, I've watched Veterans Thrift become much more than a thrift store.
Working directly with the VA and other local agencies, we help veterans who are getting back on their feet. On average, we completely furnish a home for at least one veteran every month. That can mean a bed to sleep in, a couch, tables and chairs, household furniture, appliances and even artwork to make an empty space finally feel like a home.

And our help doesn't stop with veterans.
When someone in our community experiences a catastrophic event, such as losing their belongings in a fire or escaping a domestic violence situation, Veterans Thrift can step in to help with basic furniture, clothing and other necessities.

We also maintain medical equipment that can be loaned to people in our community who need it.

Much of what comes through the doors at 2130 Price Drive eventually finds its way back out those doors to someone who needs it.
And now, after years of helping other people through difficult circumstances, our old building has taken quite a hit itself.
The recent storms caused significant damage, and we are still working with our insurance adjusters and doing everything we can to repair the building and move forward.

We're sharing this story not simply because we want people to know that Veterans Thrift is here, but because we want people to understand what is here and what could be lost without the support of our community.
Every donation, every purchase, every volunteer hour and every person who shares our story helps us continue doing this work.
From a wood and truss business decades ago to a nonprofit serving veterans and local families today, 2130 Price Drive is still a place where things are being built.

Only now, instead of building with lumber, we're helping people rebuild their lives.

And right now, the old building that has helped make so much of that possible could use a little help rebuilding too. ❤️🇺🇸

🌟 SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT: VETERANS THRIFT NON-PROFIT 🌟

Veterans Thrift Non-Profit recently suffered major storm damage to our 8,000-square-foot store at 2130 Price Drive. The damage affected our roof, electrical system, and other areas of the building, forcing us to close while repairs are underway.

For the past 10 years, we have proudly served veterans and residents throughout Mohave County through our medical equipment loan program. We have helped countless people obtain wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, and other necessary equipment. We also partner with other local agencies to share donations and resources whenever they are needed.

Now, we are working hard to repair the damage and get our store safely reopened for business so we can continue serving the community that has supported us for so many years.

We want to sincerely thank our community, volunteers, staff, patrons, donors, and everyone who has offered encouragement and assistance during this difficult time. Your support means more to us than we can say.
