The time has come to say goodbye to Winklepickers. First and foremost, we want to thank everyone, both near and far, that has made our shop here at the outlets such an enjoyable experience. We have truly loved meeting so many people and had a blast curating our store of everything fun, funky, and functional. Beyond that this mall has become our own little dysfunctional family and we will miss every person who works here. We came to this center because of the indoor mall setting but we never knew it would help foster friendships beyond our doors.
But why? Well, that’s a complicated question. However, it stems mostly from the lowered traffic at our mall. We won’t dwell on the reasons for that, as they are plenty. From the struggle of brick and mortars to the economic factors, the list can go on. Being that we are a small family-owned business the lowered traffic has made it so one of us is here almost every night until 7pm. It means we worked Easter, and we rarely eat dinner together. It has nothing to do with staffing, we have amazing employees, but the lowered traffic makes it difficult to pay them. Our business cannot trump our family. Therefore, unless it can deliver the flexibility a family with a young child needs, then it does not make sense to continue.
We ask that gift certificates and rewards points be used before our closing as we do not know if we will continue with our current register system. From here on out all sales will be final. Being that we are continuing with our business model in a new space, there will be limited clearance sales, but we do have some planned! Stay tuned for those!
So, what now? Well, we have some great news! For our returning visitors to the mall, you will find Rachel’s Spice and Tea, some of our fun gifts, as well as a smattering of hot sauces across the hall at Wax n Wix! We also will be launching a specially curated collection of camping seasonings for Arties Camping and More!
For our local homies, we have great news for you too. We are opening a small space in Hudson Falls! We will be opening a Rachel’s Spice and Tea at 293 ½ Main St. (Think a few buildings up from the amazingly pink bubbles and sun building) This will have all our spices and teas, hot sauces, and a smattering of fun stuff for gifts. In addition to the small boutique, we will also offer hot tea, coffee, and soup! Soup will be offered hot a few days a week but always available in cold ready to heat quarts. The location is slated to be fully operational February 1, 2025.
Our final day at The Outlets at Lake George will be December 28th. Our hours will be:
December 14-December 23 Mon-Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 10am-6pm
Christmas Eve 10am-4pm
Christmas -Closed
December 26th-28th 10am-4pm
From the very bottom of our hearts, we want to thank each and everyone of you for your support. It wasn’t a long time, but it was a good time. We look forward to seeing you at Lake George Popcorn in the village of Lake George or in Hudson Falls!
Sincerely,
Dave and Rachel
