It has always broken my heart to see interesting old items discarded, in favor of the latest trend. Every time I see a cast-off at the side of the road, I feel a desperate need to rescue it! So what better business to start, than one that allows me to collect discarded, rusty, chipped, or unwanted items, and re-imagine them into something useful again?! Inventory at Jacobus Lane is constantly cha
nging, because what I create is dependent on what great find I made the week before! One week it may be a bracelet made of vintage buttons, the next week it may be a potting table made from an old enamel table top. People often ask, why the name "Jacobus Lane?" The name comes from the street my grandparents lived on when I was growing up. There was always some project underway at Grandma and Grandpa's house. There was Grandpa making a cabinet in the basement, the smell of sawdust filling the house. And Grandma making crafts for the church bazaar. Creativity, imagination, and industry made life just a little more interesting "down the lane". I hope to capture a little of that magic in my designs.
