Friends, I've made the difficult decision to close my shop indefinitely. I've loved sharing my joy of sustainable fashion that I encapsulated in my vision of The Local Edit over this past year, and I so cherish the new friendships that I was so lucky to have made along the way...
It's amazing how in just a matter of months, one's point of view on life and purpose can shift. There's a beautiful Japanese idealogy called "Ikigai," which seeks to break down and define one's purpose in life by asking oneself basic questions about loving their craft, impacting the world, and finding what one is good at (there’s a making money bit in there too, which is nice, but I haven’t really figured that one out yet.) the important thing to know is that love part comes first. ❤️..
I realize, especially now, that it's a luxury to have a choice in what one chooses to do with their time. For me, it's a privilege that comes with a responsibility to make impactful change not only within my own family and community but in broader social justice and equity efforts in ways where I know I can make the most impact. I'm excited to pursue these efforts and though I'm sad to let my Local Edit baby go, I'm looking forward to this next stage in life...
I don't know how to close this, so I'll just say, please continue to shop locally and please hit up your favorite consignment shop in town (like in Orinda if you’re local)...
