One stone you may recognize without realizing it is Howlite.

Naturally white with gray to black veining, Howlite is a borate mineral often used for carvings, jewelry, and decorative pieces. Its distinctive pattern makes it easy to recognize once you know what you're looking for.

One of Howlite's most interesting characteristics is that it readily accepts dye. Because of this, it is often colored blue to imitate turquoise, though it can also be found in a variety of other colors.

While dyed Howlite is common, I've always appreciated it in its natural form. The contrast between the bright white stone and dark veining gives each piece its own character, and no two are exactly alike. 💚

One story I haven't shared is how Elemental Rising got its name.

Full disclosure: it happened in my living room while I was talking with my daughter-in-law, who helped inspire the name.

The "Elemental" part comes from the elements of the Earth and my appreciation for the world around us. It reflects a lifelong curiosity about materials, their history, and the stories they carry.

The "Rising" part reflects growth, discovery, and the idea that we are always learning something new. Whether it's a mineral's formation, its history, or its place in different cultures, there's always more to explore.

When the two came together, Elemental Rising simply felt right. 💚

More than just beautiful beads.

Mala beads have been used for centuries as a tool for meditation, prayer, and reflection. Traditionally made with 108 beads, they are found in several Eastern spiritual traditions and are often used to help maintain focus during repeated prayers, intentions, or mantras.

What I appreciate most about them is the history they carry. For generations, mala beads have served a meaningful role in spiritual practice and continue to do so for many people today.

It's a reminder that some of the objects we admire for their beauty also carry centuries of culture, tradition, and story. 💚
