Saw this. As the owner of a bookstore, I am glad we had (have online) banned books for sale!

Over two years ago, I became frustrated with chasing random bits of cardboard recycling down the road. I repurposed a railroad plate with a handle to put over the cardboard as a weight. Worked fine until yesterday when the recycling crew thought the weight needed to be recycled, too.
Fortunately, we have a number of these plates courtesy of a Craigslist post offering free landscape ties that we used to terrace our front yard. So, version 2.0 of the recycling weight is now chained down with 4” structural screws. My wife thinks I am overreacting.

Our relationship with our customers has been the best part of having a bookstore. They provide us with wonderful books to share with others. They share their passions and their joy. That invariably makes our lives better. One of our customers left the book shown below to find a new home. it has been here about 3 years...any idea why it is still on our shelf? (The donor is now an honors grad from college!)

Bertrice Small has been a fixture in the historical romance genre' for many years. She set a very high standard for research and quality prose. Others who have followed her (George R. R. Martin, Teresa Medeiros, etc., etc) have to acknowledge their debt to this original 'Avon' lady! Her passing on February 24th still leaves a tremendous body of work. R.I.P

The weather has been a bit difficult for the last several days. We will be open today until at least 5pm. We will close once the sun goes down before the roads start freezing over. Stop by!
