So we had our work cut out to make up for it.

At Oolala Consign and Furniture Annex in Jackson Plaza we are in the season of adding more Artists in Residence to our base of creatives and excellent
ART makers.

We offer up a gorgeous jewelry maker and whimsical card creator this time,
Barbara Formichelli of
Barbara Formichelli Designs,
who will be having a kick off event night on

Thursday,
September 10th, 2026

530pm to 730pm
Light refreshments will be served.

It is a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet the artist and discuss her process and craft.

Barbara's bio is below and some of her stunning work in the photos included in this post.

Mark the date and time on your calendar, you will be glad you did.At times, we are all inspired by something we find particularly beautiful...a radiant sunset, a flower in bloom, a work of art, the people we love.

Barbara Formichelli draws inspiration for her jewelry from a wide spectrum of places, periods, artwork, architecture, clothing, and people. She was born in New York City and attended State University of New York at New Paltz. After briefly teaching high school English, Barbara went on to a successful 31 year career at IBM. Upon her retirement, Barbara spent three rewarding years as marketing and events director for the Breast Cancer Resource Center located in Austin, Texas (and yes, she is also a survivor). She currently splits her time between a farm that she shares with her husband in Rushford, Minnesota and her home in Austin.

Many of her distinctive and unique designs reflect Art Deco and Victorian influences, based on years of collecting antiques, while others exude a southwestern flair, reminiscent of her travels through New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado.

Barbara uses a myriad of beads, pearls, crystals, semi precious stones, and metals to provide a harmonious blend of textures in her jewelry. These elements are creatively incorporated into designs ranging from romantic and sophisticated to casual and playful. Her more recent endeavors feature vintage brooches as pendants which may be removed, making these pieces both visually stunning and extremely versatile.

May you be as inspired by wearing her pieces as she was in creating them.

Oolala Consign and Furniture Annex in Jackson Plaza is excited to introduce our newest Artist(s) in Residence.
The well known and dynamic duo of Ellen Reyher
and Ira Wi******er Slatter.

We thought, with so much talent between them, it was important to ask them to have a show.
With their followers from Viroqua and all over the Driftless area ( and Florida ), along with exposing LaCrosse, to their incredible art would be a great thing to boost up August in the shop.

A bit about each of them and their background and skillful artistry.

Ellen Reyher is a Viroqua artist working in ceramic sculpture, pastels, acrylic painting, and beaded jewelry. Ellen taught K-12 art for 33 years in the Kettle Moraine School District, Wales, Wisconsin. She has a Master of Fine Arts Degree and has been an exhibiting artist in Wisconsin and the Florida Keys for 50 years.

Ira Slatter is a working artist and retired art teacher living in Viroqua, Wisconsin. His main medium is ceramic sculpture and artistic pottery. He is a graduate of UW Madison with over 30 years of experience teaching and creating art. Ira finds his inspiration from both the Driftless region and the Florida Keys.

We feel honored to have them present the creative projects they have done and are currently doing.

We will have pieces open to the public for viewing starting Tuesday, August 18th with a small meet and greet to follow the next week.

to meet the artists and chat about anything and everything ART.
