There’s a little old Appalachian magic in a handmade broom.
Join us at Amulet with Coven Creations and Woven Solstice for an Appalachian broom-making workshop, just in time for Mabon.
Mabon marks the autumn equinox, when daylight and darkness stand on equal ground. It’s a season for gathering what the land has given us, giving thanks, taking stock, and preparing for the slower half of the year.
And what better way to welcome it than by making a broom with your own two hands?
Broom making has deep roots in Appalachian craft traditions, where practical household objects were often made from what was growing close by. A broom wasn’t fancy. It was useful. It swept the hearth, the porch, the kitchen, and, in the folklore that grew around these traditions, sometimes a little more than dust out the door.
Come learn the craft, make your own broom, and leave with something useful, beautiful, and properly Appalachian.
