First LA — then driving up north for popups in Oakland and Berkeley! Then back to the Northeast for a full autumn of popups. We will likely be sold out of German wool felt bags, cashmere coats and pants, and probably very low on napkins and pajamas!

Zapapa - beautiful, handmade, ironclad guaranteed unique. Everything is made one at a time by our four professional sewists. We use natural fabrics that are either remnant or deadstock (discontinued).

NEXT POPUP! Lots of new items coming in - a big box of winter garments handmade by Zapapa’s sewists Vicky and Alejandra is making its way across New England this weekend to Zapapa’s doorstep. And we are doing a quick trip to buy more wool since the coats are selling fast! We sold 6 just today! (Along with several ponchos, German wool felt bags, cashmere pants, and a few napkin sets). Zapapa customers, we love you.

Zapapa Handmade blanket coat in 100 percent wool. One of our trademarks is to make coats and vests from blanket remnants. More October blueberry fields! Zapapa Handmade 100 percent wool anorak in unisex cut. The design is adapted from an anorak made in Labrador and Newfoundland.

Winter white wool! Unique Zapapa design - a long hooded poncho and angled-pocket pants made in the most luxurious 100 percent wool. This is a remnant of the same wool used to make the US Olympic Team’s pants in the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. We have one of these ponchos so if it doesn’t sell at our popups this fall, I will keep sauntering around the Down East blueberry fields. It is a lovely thing to wear.

Often times, Zapapa Handmade finds inspiration in designer creations. This large Zapapa mosaic bag made from upholstery remnants of wool, velvet, linen and cotton is an example. We love the $2,000+ Dries Van Noten weekender bag (see last slide) and it inspired us to make something with the same sensibility but at 1/10 the price. And it’s zero waste! And it was made by Zapapa’s incredibly talented sewist Vicki. She said her head was going to explode with all the puzzling instructions 😬 but she succeeded beyond expectation in bringing three of these gorgeous bags to life! Each one is unique because it uses slightly different positioning of the material.
