PLEASE USE CAUTION AT THE PARK!

I want to make everyone aware of some electrical work happening by Jones Electric that is currently underway at the park in preparation for the new The Bridge building project.

A trench was opened up yesterday between the parking lot and the open pavilion. While there is tape around it, we are asking everyone to please stay completely away from the taped-off area FOR YOUR SAFETY.

Parents and caregivers: PLEASE keep an especially close eye on children while visiting the park. The playground area is still easily accessed but there is no reason for your children to be near the very obvious area of concern. We certainly don't want anyone to be hurt while this work is underway.

There is no electrical at the park right now so the bathrooms are closed at the moment (no lights). They will re-open when electricity is restored.

I don't know when this electrical project will be finished but we are hopeful that work will be completed in a timely manner and the trench able to be covered back up as soon as possible. Until then, PLEASE respect the taped off area and give the work area plenty of space.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe as The Bridge building prep begins. I don't have a timeline on when their building construction will start quite yet, but upgrading and putting the electrical lines underground at the park is the first phase.

Have a wonderful day, Kirklin!

Today was a bittersweet day at Kirklin Town Hall as we say goodbye to our Utility Clerk, Karla Bucheli, on her last day with the Town of Kirklin. ❤️ (I will introduce you to your new utility clerk next week).

For the past 2½ years, Karla has been my wingman and the first person to greet you all with a smile when you walked into Town Hall. She has been the person I could count on to get the job done, depend on, trust completely, laugh with, and she always treated everyone who walked in the door with friendliness and respect. Those types of employees are worth their weight in gold. Kirklin and I were very blessed to have her.

Karla is one of those rare people who is genuinely dependable, honest, trustworthy and kind. She is every bit as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, and anyone who has had the opportunity to know her knows exactly what I mean. That made today all the more difficult.

But as much as we hate to see her leave Town Hall, we are at the same time so incredibly proud of her! That pride allows us to be so very happy for her, to be her biggest cheerleaders, and to watch her spread her wings, even when we would really rather keep them right where they are. ❤️

Now as she embarks on her new joruney, we hope she spreads those wings as far as they will take her and enjoys every opportunity, every success, and every one of the fruits this great country offers in the land of the free.

On behalf of the Town of Kirklin, we thank Karla for 2½ years of faithful service to our residents and our community. She will absolutely be missed at Town Hall.

And from me personally...
Karla, I am so very proud of you. Thank you for being my wingman, and for being someone I could trust 100% with not only the funds you handled but also with the patience and kindness you bestowed upon everyone you crossed paths with. I will miss seeing you sitting across from me more than you know. ❤️

Now go spread those wings and fly. You deserve it! 🇺🇸❤️

Community Update from the Town Council President:

I want our residents to know that the Town Council is aware of the flooding occurring in several areas within our town limits. We understand the concerns and frustrations this situation creates, and we are working to address these issues.

Commonwealth Engineers is currently investigating stormwater issues throughout the town to help identify the underlying problems and potential solutions. The Town has also been working on planning and grant opportunities so that we can move forward with the necessary improvements.

The County is assisting the Town as we work through these concerns and develop a plan for both short-term needs and long-term solutions.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working to improve our community and address these ongoing stormwater issues.

Mindi Jobe

Kirklin Town Council President

As the 2026–2027 school year begins, the Kirklin Police Department reminds everyone to be extra mindful of children getting on and off school buses. Please slow down, stay alert, and use caution whenever you see a school bus on its route. The safety of our children is everyone's responsibility, and we appreciate your help in keeping them safe throughout the school year. We hope everyone has a safe, educational, and fun year filled with memories to last a lifetime!

Just a quick HEADS UP:

If you're out and about around Kirklin tomorrow and notice people wearing safety vests with traffic cones and equipment, don't be alarmed - they're supposed to be there!

They're from our engineering firm and will be here as part of our ongoing stormwater planning efforts. Their work includes locating and measuring stormwater pipes, identifying their sizes and materials, and taking photos to help document our stormwater system.

You may see them in different areas of town throughout the day. If you happen to drive by a work area, we appreciate you slowing down and giving them a little extra room to work safely.

As always, thank you for your patience and support as we continue working to improve our community!
