My heart has been heavy. As a mother. As a woman. As a mixed AfroLatina. As a human.
ā¢
Over the past few years, more often than not, Iāve found myself feeling overwhelmed, helpless and heartbroken watching the news.
ā¢
This week was no different.
ā¢
I canāt help but wonder, what if it was my child? Or my siblings? Or my partner or parents? What if it was someone I loved that was in school or at the grocery store?
ā¢
After some research, Iāve decided to donate a total of 20% of sales from my pop-up on Saturday (May 28).
10% will go towards - a nonprofit organization aiming to educate about gun safety, improve regulations and is working on continuous research centered around understanding why gun violence occurs and what can be done to prevent it.
I will also donate another 10% to the GoFundMe started by for Uvalde survivors and the victimsā families. VictimsFirst is a nonprofit ensuring 100% of money collected goes directly to victimās families and injured survivors.
ā¢
If you have the means, donate. If you have the time, take a look at the initiatives and research shared on ās website. Educate yourself to better educate others.
ā¢
Make an effort to take ACTION towards change, for a better future - because actions speak louder than the empty promise of āthoughts & prayersā.
