Jared Benjamin McGinnis was born to Ken & Jacque McGinnis on February 25th, 1990 in Kingman, Kansas, and passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior on August 12th, 2026.
Jared was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He never failed to show up for the people he loved, especially when they needed him most. The love he had for his children was something truly admirable. He worked harder than anyone to be there for them, no matter what it took. Being their father was one of the greatest joys of his life.
To know Jared was to love him. But to truly understand him was something even more special. He loved deeply, fiercely, and without hesitation. When Jared cared about you, you knew it. He gave his whole heart to the people he loved and would do whatever he could to make sure they were taken care of.
Jared was the kind of dad every child should be lucky enough to have. He didn’t just love his kids—he showed them. He played outside with them, showed up to their sports games, and took them on countless golf cart rides that, to them, were so much more than just a ride. He made time for them, he was present, and he made each of them feel loved and important.
Many of his nieces and nephews called him “Uncle” before they could even pronounce his name. That says everything about the place he held in their lives. Jared wasn’t simply their uncle; he was a part of their childhood, their memories, and their hearts. The games they played, the golf cart rides, the laughter, and the moments he showed up just because they mattered will be memories they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
They all knew that when Jared was around, there was always a little more fun to be had. He was the uncle who would get down and play with them, cheer them on from the sidelines, and make memories out of the simplest moments. He loved them fiercely and treated them as if they were his own.
He gave them something that cannot be replaced—the gift of an uncle who was there, who loved them completely, and who made sure they knew it.
Jared found a renewed sense of peace and hope in Florida, where he was currently living. He was working in welding again, and if you knew Jared, you know how happy he was to be back. He spent the last summer of his life truly living a dream, fishing and watching the sunrise at the beach. His only wish was that he could have his children and family in Florida with him.
Jared had his ups and downs, and overcame many challenges throughout his life, but his love for his family never wavered.
Jared is survived by his children Aaliyah, Chase, Johanna, and Harper; parents Ken & Jacque McGinnis; sister Jennifer & husband Jake Graber, children Alyssa (Eric Towsley), Peyton, and Malachi; brother Jesse & wife Stevi McGinnis, children Jaiden, Samairah, Aabel, Aaven, Blaz, Acotas, Penelope, Clover, and Eila; sister JoAnna & husband Geoff Wooten, children Aiden, Madison, Hudson, and Sadie, sister Juli & husband Kent Girard, their children Hank, Mack, Kenzi, and Charlie; brother Joseph & wife Hayley McGinnis, daughter Rowen, sister Jordyn & husband Kaiden Pearce, children Carson & Scottie.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 24, 2026 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026 also at Cornerstone Fellowship Church. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Jared was an avid Kansas City Chief’s fan. If you would like, please join us and wear Chief’s attire to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the McGinnis family for final expenses. Any excess funds will be put into a future college fund for Jared’s children.
