Freedom Road Defense

Freedom Road Defense Freedom Road Defense is a small business designed for the purposes of training the Ohio Concealed Carry Course and other self defense courses.

Freedom Road Defense is a small business designed with the purpose of providing civilians the opportunity to learn and train self defense techniques, without breaking the bank. Through Freedom Road Defense you can obtain your Ohio Concealed Carry Permit, learn proper firearm safety, the laws surrounding carrying a concealed weapon and defending yourself and others, as well as many other valuable s

kills. We offer not only the Ohio Concealed Carry class, but other classes which provide a center of focus on different styles of hand to hand defense and explain scenarios in which each may be useful. We offer classes which teach defense against a bladed weapon, defense using a bladed weapon, weaponless self defense, and how to disengage from a hands on scenario to be able to draw your weapon. Along with the hand to hand classes, Freedom Road Defense also offers more in depth firearm training. This includes combat defense pistol, combat defense shotgun, and combat defense carbine classes.

****Freedom Road Defense is also proud to offer a very unique service. We have a program in which we will travel to your house, and help you and your family set up a plan for the possibility of an attack at the house. There are literally thousands of scenarios that could take place consisting of an attack while at your house, and while we can not cover them all, we will make sure that by the time we leave, you and your family are prepared for many of the most likely scenarios. This is a service in which we know many will read about and push to the side, but we urge you consider the "what if" factors. Would your spouse know what to do during a break in? Would your children know what to do? Would you really know what to do? Would any of you know what any of the others would do? While many of us like to think we know exactly what we would do, take a minute and try to imagine the panic and confusion of your family. Are you sure you will react appropriately if a plan has not been established and practiced to the point where it has become second nature? Are you sure your family members will react appropriately? If you are not confident that things would go in your favor, then this is a service you may highly want to consider. It's better to be prepared and never need it, than to need it and not have prepared.****

Ohio Concealed Carry Class- This class allows the student to leave with the credentials needed to obtain their license to carry a concealed firearm within the state of Ohio and within the states that honor Ohio's permit. In the class you will learn:
*Firearm Safety
*Proper Handling and Shooting Techniques
*The Laws Regarding Conceal Carry

We encourage anyone to take this class who would like to be able to carry a concealed firearm. EVEN IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER, that is fine!! It is actually easier to teach someone who is new than someone who has developed poor habits. The cost of the class is $75 if you provide your own ammunition and firearm, $85 if you provide your own ammunition but need to use our fi****ms, or $100 if you need to purchase ammunition from us. Also, if you need ammuntion and to borrow a firearm, the price remains at $100. *WE ACCEPT CASH ONLY*

If you choose to bring your own fiream and ammunition, you need to have a minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition. It can be any caliber that you choose, or you can bring multiple calibers and fi****ms if you would like. We do ask that you bring no more than 3 fi****ms. If you choose to bring your own ammunition but do not have a firearm, that is fine. However, you need to be in contact with the class instructor ahead of time to know what types of ammunition you could purchase to complete the course. THERE ARE TO BE NO FI****MS OR AMMUNITION BROUGHT INTO THE CLASSROOM UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO BY THE INSTRUCTOR!!! LEAVE THEM IN THE VEHICLE!!! If by chance you are being dropped off and picked up later, let the instructor know and special arrangments will be made for your firearm. We will have a "working lunch," meaning that class will continue as we are eating. If you choose to bring your own lunch that is perfectly acceptable. However, if you would prefer, you can bring some extra cash (about $10) and lunch will be provided. I can not guarantee what that lunch will be, as I'm sure it will not be the same for every class, but it will be enough to keep you satisfied and energized! (From the months of December to March lunch will not be provided due to possible road conditions, and we do ask that you bring food with you.) Our CCW classes will range anywhere from 3 to 10 students and will be completed in one day. The class length is 8 hours. Upon completion of the class, if weather and sunlight hours permit, we will allow those who would like to utilize the time, up to one hour of extra range time with the instructor. This time can be used for the student to gain further guidance on hands on firearm techniques. To schedule a date for our CCW class, you need to either call, send an e-mail, or message us on facebook (this information can be found under the "contact us" tab at the top of the page), letting us know that you are interested in the course. Once we have your name and are able to contact you, we will provide you with options on dates and find out which one will work the best for you. (All class dates are subject to change!) Once you are scheduled we will give you the address of the range and training facility. We will not post this address on our site as it is a private range. What you need to bring:
-State ID
-Firearm and ammunition (unless you are using ours)
-Lunch, snacks, drinks
-Eye and ear protection
-Pen and paper for notes
-Appropriate clothing for the weather. We highly recommend that you wear solid and sturdy footwear for the range. For information on any of the other classes, you will need to contact us personally, as they will be provided and sculpted for individual students and groups of students. We will be as flexible as possible, and try to form our training around what you want to learn. After all, you are paying for our services and it is your life that you are learning to defend. With that being said, we want to make this as comfortable as possible for you!

Ohio police officers, deputies, troopers, PO’s, etc., I would highly recommend altering the way you conduct investigations (particularly traffic investigations) starting right now. Start making it a habit to make the very first words out of your mouth, “hello sir or ma’am, before we discuss the reason for the stop, are there any weapons in the vehicle?”
As of June 12, there will no longer be a duty to inform in Ohio. However, if you specifically ask, the subject must respond truthfully, or that act is unlawful.
I don’t know that this will cause LEO’s a great deal more danger, because everyone who has done the job understands that good people with guns are just that, and bad people guns are just that. The bad guys still won’t tell you if they have a gun. What this practice will do, is prevent a potentially terrible situation with a good person. If you do not ask and they do not provide the information, and halfway through the encounter you see a gun and their hand is near it, how will (or could) that turn out??
Start doing this for the safety of everyone.

On the flip side of that coin, if you are a civilian, and you intend to carry a firearm after June 12, either licensed or not, do yourself a huge favor. If you find yourself in a situation involving police, TELL THEM YOU HAVE A WEAPON. While it will no longer be law to do so, believe we when I tell you that they will greatly appreciate you letting them know, without them having to ask. This is still the smart and safe thing to do, even though it won’t be illegal not to do it.
