It is Juneteenth and as America marks 250 years this summer, it feels like a meaningful time to sit with the stories and history that make up the full picture of this country.

Hitting our sales goal mid-month is such a good feeling— knowing rent is paid, payroll supported and that we’ll have a little breathing room the rest of the month. Days can be tough as a small business but having a community who shows up for us means the most. ❤️

New books just walked in and honestly they're showing off a little. 📚

Fiction is taking over the shelves this week and we are not complaining one bit. Whether you need something to curl up with on the water or an excuse to avoid your to-do list, we've got you covered.

And then there's this one. The Babel Collector's Edition by R.F. Kuang arrived with faux-leather, gold foil, illustrated endpapers, and the kind of energy that makes you feel underdressed just holding it. Oxford. Magic. Silver. Colonialism. Betrayal. It's a whole thing and it is absolutely worth the hype.

What a special evening at the Romance Book Club hosted by The Bookshelf on Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia. 💙📚

I had the opportunity to share my journey from becoming an empty nester to fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a published author. The conversation was heartfelt, inspiring, and filled with thoughtful questions and plenty of laughter.

I was especially touched by this wonderful group of women who created a romance book club in their small town and continue to support reading, authors, and their local independent bookstore. Communities like this remind me why stories matter.

Thank you to everyone who joined the discussion and to The Bookshelf on Church for such a warm welcome. It was an evening I won't soon forget. ❤️

They featured indie bookstores in the area and we are so proud to be in such good company. There’s something special about a community that still shows up for its local shops — and you all have shown up for us in the best way.
