It's been almost 3 years since I announced that I was going to start designing my own patterns. And the plan has changed several times since then. I took the time to learn a drafting software, and then my husband and I determined that I should use a more advanced drafting software, so more learning. Then at first I thought I would just do historical patterns, as I have in the past, but then we decided maybe I could do some modern Bohemian type patterns as well. So, I have several patterns in various stages of completion, and will be posting my first pattern within the next few days. I'm so excited, and hope you will be too! So stay tuned!

I have compiled a year-by-year index of Godey's Lady's Book issues that I have found online for FREE. This is one of my favorite resources for costume research, so I hope it will be helpful to you as well!

Godey's Lady's Book was THE most popular fashion magazine of its day, and still is the most popular one we go to for research about fashions of that time period. Published from 1830 to 1898, it...

So... I have some very exciting news! Our plans have changed!
My dear hubby and I have been traveling around the country for 2 years and 3 months now. And we both are loving it so much, that we have no intention of stopping anytime soon. But we spend about 5 months over the winter in Arizona, and I find myself with extra time on my hands. LOL.

What does this mean for you?
I have decided to start designing my own Historical Sewing Patterns! I am starting to draft patterns by hand, and they will be scanned in and sold as downloadables. This means you won't have to pay as much to get a quality pattern, there will be no shipping charges, and you don't have to wait for your patterns to arrive in the mail!

I don't have an estimated date yet of when the first pattern will be available, but I am hoping by the end of August. Stay tuned for further updates!

Here is another video, as a follow up to the previous video where we made a pattern for an 18th Century Petticoat. In this video, we are constructing the Petticoat from the pattern. But there is an ooops! Find out how I handled that mistake. Do you think the mistake made the Petticoat better, or worse? What would you have done?
