This Earth Day, we’re shining a light on a project that helps protect the place we all love.

In 2019, the Thomas Jefferson Solar Canopy, a 356 kW photovoltaic (PV) array, was installed on the top level of the parking structure at Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

Today, this innovative solar canopy generates more than half of the electricity used annually in the memorial’s restaurant and gift shop.
