Great short stories. Dale Dapkins' collection of short stories and poems in PRIZE WINNERS can only be described as delightfully bizarre. Dapkins is not only a skilled story-teller, but the constant word-play in narratives leaves the reader open-mouthed in amazement. Totally incongruous images and allusions are smashed together until they explode in glorious fireworks of the imagination. His narrative voices constantly are giving sly winks to the reader.
