🐻🐟 SALMON EGGS = BEAR SUPERFOOD!
Ever wonder why bears go absolutely nuts for salmon season? It’s not just the fish—they’re after the eggs! 🥚🐟
A single salmon can carry thousands of eggs, packed with fats, proteins, and nutrients. Bears will often target the nutrient-rich parts of the salmon, including the eggs, helping them load up on energy before winter.
And here in Ketchikan, the salmon run turns the creek into an all-you-can-eat buffet. 🐻🍽️
The coolest part? Bears aren’t just eating salmon—they’re helping feed the forest. Salmon remains and nutrients get scattered throughout the Tongass, connecting the ocean to the rainforest in one incredible cycle. 🌲🌊
Salmon feed the bears.
Bears feed the forest.
And the whole ecosystem comes full circle.
Welcome to salmon season on Creek Street! 🐻🐟🌲
