Hello Possums!
MiGen has given me an opportunity to talk about my lifelong passion of mud slinging and cooking dirt at 3000°-meaning they want me to share my love affair with clay.
Since my first encounter with a potter (Bonnie Staffel, Charlevoix) at the impressionable age of 10, I’ve thought about, dreamed about, and acted out the joy of potting. Capital P pot and small p pot have been major impetus’ for many of my adventures.

She was constantly staying near the fish market and watching people come to buy fish. She took a leaf that fell from the tree and came to the owner. On the first day, surprised, he took her "money" and gave her a fish. From that day on, every morning she comes with a leaf to "buy" fish.

Hello Possums!
Elsewhere I've posted the green ware I've made over the last two weeks, well, here's the bisque. Two more like this and it's off to the big Kiln for the high temp gas reduction glaze firing in my catenary kiln, JoAnn (named after my studio teacher, JoAnn Aquinto).
So great to be in the studio again, after a tough few months with a shoulder injury. Looks like most of the important bits are working again!
Monday I'll be 70. I've been practicing saying that all year so it wouldn't be a shock. It's a shock. How can this have happened?
It is a slow moving, fascinating horror show.
Frankly I never thought I was built for old age, it just wouldn't happen, no time for it. Well, slowly it dawns on you that really, nobody gets out alive. That's sobering, and freeing at the same time. Whenever I start thinking along these lines I find myself giving people things off the wall. I don't want any leftover stuff when I'm done here, best to pass it along. 'Leave nothing but footprints.' is my motto. And some pots..
There's a lot of love transferred into those bits of earth. I am fed by family, neighbors and friends who sustain me with their many kindnesses. That good will leaks from me to the clay and the pots go on to be gifts, or vessels to share meals among friends.
What a great big fun lovely planet, and all the startling people here on it.

Hello Possums! Here are the results of the October firing...
A nice toasty palette, medium reduction with excellent iridescent highlights. The Monk pots are a new investigation with gesture, the handles are monks with beaded rope belts running down the pot. Twigs™, the cigarette holder that is not for ci******es are very popular with parents looking for that 'insider' gift. It only makes me want to make more... Here come the holidays! By increasing the gas in the chamber (and reducing the air) a reduction atmosphere is created in the chamber. The carbon-rich smoke roils in the flames around the cone packs.

Candling… just the pilot can bring the chamber to about 120°F. Dries out the brick and kiln furniture. Main burners at 9a
