My name is Jon Wondergem. Born and raised in Nevada County, I was trained by the local luthier, Luke Wilson.

Welcome to The Unparalleled String Shop!
~ 15 years of experience.
~ Build and repair stringed instruments.
~ Buy, Sell and Trade stringed instruments.
~ Revitalize instruments and get them playing like new again.
~ Stringed instruments including but not limited to: Banjo, guitar, lute, mandolin, bass, bouzouki, cello, violin, viola, lute, erhu, oud, sitar, dobro, ukulele, harp and more.

~ Repair electric versions of these instruments and do electronic work including pick up installation.
~ Expert in bow re-hair, repair and restoration.
~By Appointment Only, Grass Valley California. He graciously passed down to me the traditional techniques in preserving stringed instruments. These skills are necessary for a luthier to have in order to preserve the value of an instrument when performing repairs and restoration. The level of professionalism I work at is what musicians and collectors who own instruments of value seek. I take pride and confidence in sharing this quality work and knowledge with you so that you can properly care for your instrument and have it play like new or better for many years to come.

Was fortunate enough today to meet two exceptional local KC musicians today who came to the shop and totally jived with the work and expertise I'm bringing to the City. Starting over somewhere new is tough, but these players brought me hope and happiness for my future here in KC. Gratitude abounds for music and the community it creates.
