Q: Can you describe your preferred color palette for interior design and why you are drawn to these hues?
I love muted tones, natural, rich, creamy whites, browns, and taupe. By employing an ultra-natural light color palette, I added visual interest by occupying the space through the strategic use of different and contrasting textures – in the fabrics and the base materials. So, we used a large amount of natural and organic elements on display in the design, such as limestone, wood, and wool. I allowed the focus on lightness to carry through in the design by working primarily with Scandinavian-influenced furnishings and textures.
Q: Why do you often incorporate Scandinavian furniture into your design projects? What unique features and benefits do they bring to the table?
I have incorporated a ton of Scandinavian furniture in this project for its organic-shaped feature, which I admire. It is soft on the eye, giving it a sense of elegance and a European touch and elevating the room altogether.
Q: How has the fashion and design sense of the late 1950s and early 1960s influenced your work, and how do you adapt these historical elements for contemporary projects?
I find myself continually drawing upon the design and fashion sense of the late 1950s and early 1960s – simple lines of construction, natural colors, and Scandinavian/Nordic influences, particularly in the furniture and decorative elements.
