Big News!😳
To Enthusiastic Thrifters and Prospective Buyers,
It is with a full heart and gratitude, that I write to share my decision to sell my thrift store and the historic building it calls home. This has not been an easy decision, and it deserves an honest explanation.
On May 21, 2024, I was involved in a serious car accident that left me with injuries I continue to manage to this day. While I am deeply thankful to still be here, the reality is that my physical limitations no longer allow me to give this business the hands-on dedication it requires and deserves. Running a thrift store is not a passive endeavor, it demands energy, presence, and tireless commitment. To continue on at less than that standard would not be fair to the business, the building, or the community we have built together.
This building is a piece of living history, and one of the great privileges of my life has been serving as its caretaker. Preserving its character, maintaining its integrity, and keeping it woven into the fabric of this community has been a labor of love from the very beginning. I had a vision for the building’s future, and I am proud that I was able to accomplish the major renovations to bring it back to it’s original design and beauty.
Beyond the building itself, what I treasure most are the people. The customers who became regulars, the regulars who became friends, and the friendships that grew into something that felt like real community, that is the true legacy of this place. There is something here that goes well beyond secondhand goods. We created a gathering place, a neighborhood anchor, and a space where people feel welcome.
I share all of this because I want the right person to step into this role. I am passing the torch to someone who sees the potential of this building, who values its history, and who understands that the real work here is about people and community. Whoever takes this on next will be inheriting something with a strong foundation, a loyal following, and an enormous amount of heart. I hope to find a steward who will carry this place forward with the same love and dedication it has always deserved.
Thank you to everyone who has shopped here, cheered us on, volunteered, donated, and believed in what we were building together. You make this place Community Thrift.
Smiles,
Sarah Harding
