A Lifetime Of Fishing
Donkey Bassin

My thoughts from the Boat seat. Common sense.
I’m amazed at the lack of common sense these days. There is a lot of book smart people out there... but not a lot of common sense. You could give some people a fly swatter and they wouldn’t know the first thing about what to do with it.
We’ve all heard of common sense... but where does it come from?? Well most of it is acquired from attending the school of hard knocks, and much of it was also passed down from those that had it passed to them or had the opportunity to gain it for themselves firsthand.
Growing up fishing, and being around Bass and equipment you get a crash course in common sense from a young age. So I’ll share a few things I’ve learned over the years.
Always check the kill switch. Because if it fails, you might not be able to survive the outcome.
Never accept a challenge to cut a 360 turn in the boat without it hooked up. You both may never survive.
If someone says the lighting isn’t “close” make sure they ain’t wearing rubber sole shoes before you keep fishing.
Just because an old Donkey Bass is locked on the nest don’t mean she’ll let ya catch her.
Don’t sneak up on any Bass when they’re eating.
All Black Bass retreat to safety.
Gator eggs laying in the sun are time bombs, don’t mess with em they can go off unexpectedly and the end result stinks.
Some Gators are like skunks, their behavior is best observed from a distance.
If the motor won’t start check to see if it has fuel first.
Cross threading a reel handle nut is not considered a good alternative to a lock-nut.
When there’s an option between using a Spinner Bait and a Jack Hammer Chatter Bait, always go for the Spinner Bait.
A Jack Hammer is not a hammer!!
Before you grab a Jack Hammer try the Minnow Pure Extract OIL on your spinner bait skirt.
A pocket knife is not a screwdriver and a Screwdriver is not a pry bar.
Never question an Old Timer and it’s best not to laugh at his outcome.
The Old Masters tell it like it is. Trying to be politically correct is the same as trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I’ve learned that most of the time there is no such thing as Luck. It is all about “W O R K”.
When trying to compete with a woman; if you win you haven’t done anything, if you lose you’ll never hear the end of it.
You can go broke buying bargain BAITS. Buy the best Custom baits that I build.
When an OLD MASTER says “let me tell you something” it’s best to give him your full undivided attention.
Slow down getting in too big of a hurry can waste twice as much time.
Just a few words of wisdom from an Old Master that’s been there and done that.

My thoughts from the tractor seat.

We’ve all heard of common sense... but where does it come from?? Well most of it is acquired from attending the school of hard knocks, and much of it was also passed down from those that had it passed to them or had the opportunity to gain it for themselves firsthand.
Growing up on a farm, and being around animals and equipment you get a crash course in common sense from a young age. So I’ll share a few things I’ve learned over the years.
Always check an electric fence wire with the back of your hand. Because if you grab hold of it, you might not be able turn loose.
Never accept a challenge to p*e over an electric fence the results can be shocking.
If someone says the electric fence wire isn’t “hot” make sure thet ain’t wearing rubber sole shoes on before you give it a touch.
Just because an old milk cow is gentle don’t mean she’ll let ya ride her.
Don’t sneak up on any animal when they’re eating.
All paint horses buck.
Duck eggs laying in the sun are time bombs, don’t mess with em they can go off unexpectedly and the end result stinks.
Some people are like skunks, their behavior is best observed from a distance.
If something won’t start check to see if it has fuel first.
Cross threading a nut is not considered a good alternative to a lock-nut.
When there’s an option between using a crescent wrench and a boxed end wrench, always go for the boxed end.
A crescent wrench is not a hammer!!
Before you grab a hammer try the penetrating oil.
Screwdrivers are not pry bars, and a pocket knife is not a screwdriver.
You can learn how to make your pa mad and what not to do by watching your brother... and it’s best not to laugh at his outcome.
You’ll hurt people’s feelings less if you just tell it like it is. Trying to be politically correct is the same as trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I’ve learned that most of the time luck is spelled “W O R K”.
Men you should never compete with a woman. If you win you haven’t done anything, if you lose you’ll never live it down.
You can go broke buying bargains.
When an old man says “let me tell you something” it’s best to give him your full attention.
Getting in too big of a hurry can waste twice as much time.
Just a few words of wisdom from a dumb farmer that’s been there and done that.

Reduced to $15K. Back in the early 1900's it was a marvel and the best barn in Weakley Co.. This is Sawmill lumber; so it is cut to the full inch. Not like a 2 X 4 today. I halled hay on the farm to this barn and the loft would hold over 10,000 bails. That should give you some insight on how large it is. This is a list to help you with the materials that are in the barn: - 8 upper and lower barn doors as pictured = $5K - 4 thousand 1 X4's of various lengt's. = $10K - 3 thousand 2 X 4's of various lengt's. = $13K - 2 thousand 2 X 6's of various lengths = $10 K - 2 thousand 2 X 8's various lengths = $15K - 1 thousand 2 X 10's various lengths = $10K - 300 suport beams 4 X 8's in various lengths = $5K - 100 Main Beams 6 X 12's in various lengths = $5K - 12 Stable doors about 4 ft. wide and 6 ft tall as pictured = $1K. - 100 pieces of tin various lengths and 100 pieces of scrap tin = $1K I truly believe that $75 for all this material is a LOW end price that you can get about $10K more for it.
