❄️➡️🎉 We’re Opening Monday, January 19th! 🎉

Good news: the structural engineer has approved a preliminary reopening of Nugget Mall, and we’ll be open starting Monday.

Given the amount of passionate concern we received while the mall was closed, we trust that enthusiasm and energy will be reflected in how many cars are in the lot ready to go!

Snow loads will continue to be monitored closely, and safety will always drive our decisions. But for now, we’re excited to welcome everyone back.

See you Monday — we’ll be watching the parking lot 👀

Note: Each tenant may still open on their own timeline, if they are not open tomorrow, they will be when they are ready.

Good news! The structural inspection at Nugget Mall is officially underway. The process will take a few days to complete, but this is a big step in the right direction. We’re making progress and working steadily toward getting everything wrapped up safely. Thank you all for your patience—we’re on our way! 🙌

To our patrons,

Like many other properties and buildings across Juneau, we are required to have a structural engineer inspect the property and confirm safety before we can reopen.

At this time, local structural engineers are booked out several weeks due to the widespread impacts across town. To move things along as quickly as possible, we are actively working to bring in a licensed engineer from Anchorage or Washington to complete the evaluation sooner.

We understand the eagerness to reopen — trust us, we’re just as antsy as everyone else. Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where timelines are dictated by safety requirements that are completely outside of our control.

Our only priority is doing what is safe and responsible for our tenants, contractors, and the community. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate this process, and we will continue to share updates as soon as we have them.

Nugget Mall Update ❄️

We know everyone is eager to see the Nugget Mall reopen — trust us, we are too.

However, with buildings quite literally failing around town, we are continuing to monitor snow load daily in coordination with structural engineers and qualified contractors. Safety is and will remain the priority. That includes the safety of contractors, tenants, employees, and customers.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Nugget Mall will remain closed until we are either given the all-clear or the resources needed to safely reopen.

A friendly reminder: the Nugget Mall roof is approximately the size of two football fields. This is not a shovel-and-go situation, and opening the doors only to close them again a day later helps no one. As a general rule, if a building is unsafe to be in, its likely unsafe to be on and we are unwilling to risk anyones safety.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we make responsible, safety-driven decisions during an extreme and unprecedented snow event. Updates will continue as conditions change.

Thank you for bearing with us — we promise the goal is to reopen once, and reopen safely.

NOTICE – BUILDING CLOSED NO ONSITE ACCESS PERMITTED

The Nugget Mall is CLOSED Effective immediately out of the abundance of caution due to snow accumulation and the need to assess roof snow load.

This restriction is absolute and is in place to protect everyone's personal safety. There is no estimated reopening date at this time. Access will remain restricted until evaluations are completed by qualified professionals. Thank you for your understanding.

We will try again tomorrow morning, if you have to travel today please be safe and patient as the crews working to keep the roads clear are doing their best.

The main doors at the Nugget Mall will be closed again today due to this insane snow! If you have an appointment or want to visit a store, please call ahead and make sure they are open and there is someone available to let you in.

Hopefully you’re able to enjoy the beauty from inside a warm house…but to those of you out in this battling, you are the unsung heroes! We appreciate you!

The Nugget Mall will be closed today! We have several people unable to make it out of their driveways and roads - so for everyone’s safety, we are going to close the doors just to the main mall (box stores are still open as far as I know). If you have an appt, please call the store and ask that they give you access. Thank you and stay warm!
