Please continue to Pray for the McMicheal family as they continue through this time.
The family is still hoping for a miracle, but if the miracle doesn’t arrive by this Thursday, they will say goodbye.
Their beloved Brett remains unconscious over a week after the freak accident, and the heartbreaking decision has been made.
They are not asking God why it happened.
They are asking God to welcome him home later this week.
Over a week ago I wrote about Brett McMichael.
I asked then that you pray for Brett after he was injured in a freak accident.
After receiving updates the family, I’m hoping we can pray even more.
The good servant from Juliette, Georgia was simply doing another good deed.
The 52-year-old who would give anyone the shirt off his back
The husband and father who is still fighting.
Brett McMichael has always been there.
He’s been a volunteer firefighter for 35 years.
He hasn’t put out fires because he needed to.
He’s put them out because he wanted to.
He was doing the right thing several days ago.
His mower and trimmer were humming as he and a friend cut and trimmed the grass at the cemetery behind Juliette First United Methodist Church.
Brett respected those in the cemetery- he wanted to insure their resting place was clean and welcoming.
The 6-foot monument toppled onto Brett as he worked.
Brett suffered a traumatic brain injury.
2 vertebrae in his neck were broken.
His left foot was fractured.
Doctors removed parts of Brett’s skull to leave room for brain swelling.
Members of this wonderful family are distraught as the days have worn on.
Each day they prayed while being faced with the realization that difficult decisions needed to be made.
Brett’s wife Donna has lost 2 of her 3 biological children.
And now, she will soon say goodbye to her husband.
Brett McMichael’s daughter-in-law Grace texted me last night:
“Today, Brett’s wife Donna made the hardest decision she has ever had to face.
She met with doctors and close family to discuss Brett's quality of life, and they have decided to take him off of life support this Thursday to let him go be with the good Lord Himself.”
For his entire life, Brett McMichael has given back.
Today, the family is asking that we give back in the form of prayers.
The McMichael family is distraught over a freak accident that will soon send Brett to Heaven.
They are comforted in knowing Brett will soon be whole again.
*Please send your prayers to this fine family from Georgia.
