Reclaimed wood sign, cleaned up, milled down to 1/2" thick and glued together with Titebond III wood glue to make this 13" x 22" Family sign. Sanded smooth to 220 grit. Stained with Golden Mahogany stain. Laser engraved and then filled with 2 colors of powder coat paint, then sealed with 3 coats of lacquer. 2 - 3/8" wide strips on the back provide extra support and a good place to mount picture hardware.
I love how the black "J" pops out of the Golden Mahogany background. You know how most monograms have a space in the middle to insert the name? It would have been 100 times easier to just do that but I really, really LOVE....how the "J" is unbroken with the white lettering over it. This wasn't an easy process at all. The powder coat paint is super fine like talcum powder. If any of the colors get where they are not intended to be, you basically just have to start over. But the "danger of disaster" made this such a fun project and I'm really proud of the results. Last but not least, I'm super proud of Darcy for the design layout. She's really good at laying out the designs and picking the fonts. Between the 2 of us, we make a great team.
If you would like a sign like this or have a different idea, message either one of us and we'll get to work
