It’s been a while since we have posted about the hobbled pony so I thought I would give everybody an update. We are fully moved Into the shop at the house which is great. It’s a lot easier to create custom leather goods and take care of my little boy Merle at our home location. With that being said, we have been making all sorts of cool things In The shop. Here is a custom cell phone holder I created with tooled poppy’s. Along with building a few saddles and re-rigging a few old pack saddles we have been very busy at the hobbled pony. Thank you for your patience with our move. Keep and eye out for a lot more posts of the leather goods being created here in Wallowa County.

Beautiful hand woven roper style cinch by Ed Seaton. We have this available for sale. Nicole hardware. It is 32 inches but because it is true mohair it will stretch with use.

We have heard all kinds of news on what has been happening with The Hobbled Pony.

We are here with all the exciting news, right from the horses mouth (pun very intended)!

We are not going out of business! We are moving locations!

We finally were able to open our shop right on the property we live on! Ryan has been overwhelmed (Thank You!) with custom orders and repair jobs and we are so very thankful! The new shop is much larger with more work space and it is easier for him to full time dad and work on peoples orders!

We will also be traveling to Rodeos and Rendezvous with certain, quality consignment and our own custom leather works.

If you need anything, give us a call at 541-760-6386. We are happy to still repair your tack or work on custom orders for you!

In our third week of Women's History Month we'd like to share a little bit about Dr. M. Phyllis Lose - the 1st female equine veterinarian in the U.S.

Her passion for horses began at 9 years old when she persuaded her parents to buy her a horse and let her keep it in the garage.

By 19, she was exercising racehorses at the track and was able to convince the track stewards to let her test and certify to become the youngest racehorse trainer in the country. She was one of only three women training in the U.S. at the time, too.

American females began entering the veterinary field in the early 1900's. It wasn't until 1957 that America had its first female equine veterinarian, Dr. M. Phyllis Lose, a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

Lose opened two equine veterinary hospitals in Pennsylvania. Her second hospital specialized in orthopedic, colic and soft tissue damage cases. It had an innovative surgical suite and recovery area.

In 1999, she closed her doors to pursue her dog Oscar's acting career in Orlando.

We have only highlighted a few of Dr. Lose's incredible life full of accomplishments!

We are back from our winter break/adventures and are opened back up with regular hours! 11-4 Thurs-Sat.
